Bustar Bar Sundae Dessert (Hot Fudge Sauce)

If you like Dairy Queen's Peanut Buster Parfait, you will love this dessert. It takes time to make, but it is well-worth it in the end. I've made many varieties of this dessert, including using the ready-made oreo cookie pie crust, filling it with ice cream and hot fudge sauce and making that as an alternative to birthday cake. It is truly one of the most scrumptious desserts you will ever make!

Ingredients:
1/2 pound Oreo cookies, crushed
1/2 stick of butter
1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream
Homemade hot fudge sauce (see recipe below)
Spanish Peanuts
Cool Whip (I don't use this, but that's what the recipe calls for)

Directions:
Mix 1/2 pound crushed oreos and 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) melted butter. Press into a 9 x 13 inch pan. Soften 1/2 gallon of vanilla ice cream (for variety try coffee ice cream or any favorite flavor). Pour over cookie crust. Freeze until hard.

Hot Fudge sauce on top of a brownie, ice cream and topped with whipped cream and a cherry!
Make Homemade Hot Fudge Sauce:

12 oz (1 1/2 cups) evaporated milk
2 cups powered sugar
2/3- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet)
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter (no substitutes, please)

Mix ingredients together in 1 1/2 qt. pan. Bring to a boil and then boil 8 minutes until smooth and glossy and thick enough for hot fudge (if you over cook it you will make fudge!). Take off heat and add 1 tsp. vanilla and stir to incorporate. Cool.

Pour cooled fudge over ice cream and at this point you can also add Spanish peanuts and refreeze until hard.

(The recipe actually calls for you to freeze the hot fudge-covered ice cream and then add cool whip and Spanish Peanuts and then refreeze 15 minutes before serving. I hate cool whip, so I never add this step.)

The Hot Fudge Sauce is fast and easy to make just on its own! I highly recommend it! :)
